Therien/Russel Families  Contribute to Improve Their Donated Light Plant

July 2017

A number of years ago, the family of Gene Therien generously contributed Gene's memorials to the Momence Fire Protection District for the purchase of a towable light plant. That very same light plant has proven to be an incredibly useful asset to the district and its residents in the past. In July 2017, the family reaffirmed their support of the Momence Fire Protection District by donating the memorials from Marilyn Therien and Dorothy Russel's services towards a full LED conversion of the light plant. With this upgrade, the light plant is now capable of instantly providing enhanced lighting on emergency scenes throughout the district. The members of the Momence Fire Protection District would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Therien and Russel families for their generous support and selfless service to the district over the years.

June 2017

In June 2017 a resident of the Momence Fire Protection District, Dallas Hambrick, constructed a puzzle picturing an old-fashioned fire apparatus. Upon completion of his work, Dallas' mother had the picture framed and the family presented it to Chief Spoon as a donation. The members of the Momence Fire Protection District would like to thank Dallas and the entire Hambrick family for their continued support and encouragement, as well as the puzzle which is now proudly hung in our station's meeting room. Thank you Dallas!

Langman Family Donates New Hurst Extrication Equipment

May 2017

Living along one of the most dangerous stretches of highway in the Momence Fire Protection District, Brent and Rita Langman have witnessed countless motor vehicle accidents, many of which have literally occurred in their front yard. In May of 2017, the couple decided to make a donation to the district in order to better position firefighters for responding to this sort of incident. In cooperation with the Trustees and Chief Spoon, the Langman family agreed to make a contribution that would cover the cost of a new Hurst Ram tool for automobile extrication. With Brent and Rita's generous donation, the Momence Fire Protection District's extrication capabilities are bolstered through this new piece of equipment at the small cost of roughly $150 to the district's taxpayers. On behalf of every member, thank you to the Langman family for your commendable generosity and concern for the safety of those traveling through Momence.
